Photos/Video: Michigan State’s new uniforms inspired by…Spartans

The folks at Nike aren’t afraid to go out on a limb once in a while, see anything they’ve done to the Oregon Ducks over the years or how about Baylor or Arizona State’s new look or even Oregon’s most-bitter rival, Oregon State.

However, there isn’t a lot you can really do when your colors are Go Green, Go White….err, Green and White. Still, it hasn’t stopped the Michigan State football or basketball programs from trying to come up with ways to drum up interest in their programs with new looks and different colors added to the mix.

The 2015 season won’t be any different, as the defending Cotton Bowl champions will don new uniforms according to a whole bunch of tweets and videos of the new look, courtesy of the MSU football twitter account.

But there are closer looks at some of what is new for the Spartans of present day, inspired by the actual Spartans of ancient history.

First is a look at the “new” helmet for MSU:

There is a shiny finish…a.k.a. the design from the 2000’s with the Spartan logo and a sleeker line down the middle look.

However, the alternate helmet is a major departure from anything we’ve seen lately from the Spartans.
