Michigan State hasn’t had a good or even mediocre 2016 football season. However, it has a chance to play spoiler in the final two weeks of the season with games against Ohio State and Penn State left on the docket.
If the first drive of Saturday’s game against the Buckeyes was any indication, spoiler they will play. That’s because after a reverse to R.J. Shelton picked up some big yards, the Spartans decided to unveil the double screen fake.
That play call was perfect, as Ohio State was caught off-guard on the back side of the play and Tyler O’Connor hit a perfectly weighted pass to running back LJ Scott.
All he did was scamper some 64 yards up the left side of the field without a single Ohio State defender touching him. The combination of speed and great blocking on the back side of the play.
